This page is a working draft, not a finished legal document. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor and should not be relied on as Caveat's actual terms until it has been. It exists so the intended terms are written down and public before launch, not invented after a dispute.
1. What Caveat is
Caveat is a browser extension that analyzes publicly visible product reviews and produces an automated trust score and, on the paid tier, a deeper AI-generated analysis. It is a tool to inform your own judgment, not a substitute for it.
2. The score is an opinion, not a fact
Every score, verdict, and analysis Caveat produces is an automated characterization of patterns in publicly available data (star ratings and review text). It is not a determination that any review is fake, that any seller has acted dishonestly, or that any product is defective. Scores can be, and sometimes are, wrong — a genuine listing can score lower than it deserves, and a manipulated one can score higher than it should. Treat every score as one input to your own decision, not as a verdict.
3. No warranty
Caveat is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the service will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Caveat and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service, or from any purchasing decision made in reliance on it.
5. If you're a seller and disagree with a score
See our dispute process. We investigate every dispute raised in good faith and correct analyses shown to be inaccurate. We do not remove an accurate analysis solely because it is disputed or because of a legal threat — every dispute is investigated on the same basis regardless of how it's raised.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Paid subscriptions are billed and processed by ExtensionPay (our third-party payment provider); we never see or store your card details. Trials, pricing, and cancellation terms are as stated at the point of purchase.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Caveat to scrape, republish, or resell its analysis data at scale, or to attempt to circumvent its fair-use limits.
8. Governing law
[To be confirmed with a solicitor.] Caveat is operated from Ireland; we anticipate these terms being governed by Irish law, with any dispute subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts — but this has not yet been confirmed by a solicitor and should not be relied on until it is.
9. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially once finalized, we'll update the date above and note what changed.
